Memoir writing tells you what happened. This course asks what it meant. Over eight weeks, you slow down and look at your life with attention, not urgency.
The Seven Rooms of Memoir draws inspiration from St. Teresa of Avila's Interior Castle. Just as Teresa described the soul's journey through seven rooms toward union with the divine, this course maps your memoir-writing process through seven interconnected spaces. Each room represents a stage of deepening self-discovery and creative development. You'll move from the outer rooms of gathering raw material and finding your voice, through the inner rooms of uncovering deeper truths and patterns in your life, to the innermost room where your story achieves wholeness and meaning. This framework transforms memoir writing from a mechanical task into a spiritual and psychological journey of integration and transformation.
St. Teresa of Ávila pictured the inner life as a castle with many rooms, each one drawing a person deeper into truth. This course borrows that image for memoir writing. Each week, you enter one room of memory and meaning.
You do not need writing experience. You do not need a finished story. You need a willingness to pay attention to your life.
You are never pressured to share. You are always free to pass, listen, or keep your writing private.
